Women’s Football in FM
Anyone who watched this summers olympic games or purely has an interest in the wider world of football will have some knowledge about women’s football. The olympic games gave the world a big eye opener about women’s football, which really reflects on the publicity these athletes get. I firmly support women’s football and like in most sports the mens game is more popular, in a way this is quite unfair really. Male and female footballers only really differ in size and strength and could show the same skill. But I don’t want to argue about women’s football on this post, I want to talk about if it can ever feature on the Football Manager series. I will be having a poll to the side of this blog and I will discuss the options and my opinions. Please Vote and share your opinions on the matter.
<— This Woman has won FIFA World player of the year on five occasions and various other trophies, her name is Marta. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marta_(footballer)
It would be massively large a task to put women into the game, but if you use the editor it wouldn’t require to many game changes, except for the database size.
However it may be a lot easier to work in the best few leagues over a couple of years and maybe working on it over several seasons. As it would require a lot of work to get it to good gaming standard.
It may be your opinion that it is a good idea, but you might know it isn’t really possible. So it might be best to weight and anticipate it instead.
Some real advocates of the women’s game may even demand their own game, but I think that might be a bit out of the question, unless FM offered it as a cheaper kind of extra game with FM.
Instead of having it in the same game of a completely different game, they could made a new mode like classic, so its kind of an additional game their if you want.
The other two options are just no’s really, but if your quite conservative then you might feel that way.
(I don’t want to cause any arguments, i just wondered about peoples opinions and views)

the cost is bound to be the same or similar, so why not play it and of course it would be really interesting.it possible to take first baby steps in the womens league then switch to the mens and vice versa or do both at identical time since the the english womens super league is in the summer months.

Well if it were in the same game, the cost is bound to be the same or similar, so why not play it and of course it would be really interesting. Plus a new way of playing

I could imagine this being quite a lot of work. It is not just a case of setting up the teams and players for this – it’s modelling the finance, the competitions, international selection etc. I think it would cost SI quite a lot of money to do it. It is not just data that needs added, the code would need re-written. And I have to be honest, I wouldn’t play it!
Don’t let this be taken as any kind of slight against Women’s football. I think it is great to have equality in sport as well as all other areas of life and I am pleased that positive role models for young girls can be found through football. And the skill, fitness and tactical levels is comparible to the mens game.
But quite simply, I have to ask – would you pay for this?

Jack, you are correct, but I would love to know more about the womens league, as it has such a small market adding it to FM would give it the makret needed.

The market of womens football is too small. I don’t see a need to put it into FM. I can just simply create a player and name it Kelly Smith. You don’t see a big difference. Where as if it apply on fifa or pes. It certainly have its market. Because you going to have up close look and control for the player. Imagine playing fifa/pes with 11v11 women football..

Ive put Hope Powell the England boss into my database as well as the Team GB football team and turned them into a club side in the Ryman league. The amazing thing is that hope powell applied for the Team GB job and got it!

i think they should include the womens super league in the 2014 version when the fa expands it with a second division with relegation and promotion. also the us womens league which should be back by 2014.

I would love to see womens football either in fm or their own game because their are some quality players like Sophie Bradley, Kelly Smith and Rachel Yankey who i would love to see in an fm game.
